Learn through football
Mahnoor Rauf thinks of herself as a player first, coach second – and she absolutely loves all aspects of football
Mahnoor, from Wandsworth in south-west London, believes the game can teach you loads of valuable life skills and she would encourage absolutely anyone to lace up their boots next week.
The 18-year-old only got into football at secondary school and she loved it so much that she helped set up Westside Ladies FC for girls in her local area.
Mahnoor is now a Level 2 coach and works for the Chelsea Foundation.
She said: “Football’s great because you get something out of every training session and every match.
“It helps you pick up loads of new skills, both on and off the pitch. It can help you improve in areas such as teamwork and communication, things that help you in school and in your everyday life.
“That’s how football has helped me a lot. It has given me so many life skills and that’s why I continue to play. I love coaching and helping to improve players, but deep down I always want to play the game.
“It’s not just about the football either. There’s the social aspect of it, too. We’ve got two different teams at my club and we have all become friends.”
